Between Thresholds (2022)
Dimensions: 114 cm x 100 cm
Medium: Mixed media collage of intaglio etching prints and photographs

Liminal spaces are made up of emptiness and ambiguity. While our eyes lose their purpose of seeing, the mind and bodily senses take over, causing us to instinctively speculate danger and the nearest route to an escape. What makes us afraid of the spaces we used to love? My childhood spaces are presented in a different light. Warped, distorted and unfamiliar, a sea of chaos and confusion. Children see what they see, while adults see what they think. Between Thresholds imagines the in-between of mind's passage with the progression of time. A complex, endless void of change and disorientation, the central creation of our anxieties and perceptions, determining how we see the world growing up.
