Artist statement
Megan explores the biologically impossible, challenging the limitations of bodily forms through metamorphosis, decay, synthesis and evolution. Using dark, grotesque depictions of nature, organisms and anatomy, she reveals the ironies and phenomena of human behaviour.
Her practice counters traditions, generational trauma, societal narratives and changing mentalities, highlighting themes of self-identity, disorientation, discontinuity and liminality. Her explorations in mixed media uncover layers of the surreal, dystopian and distorted, imagining alternative perspectives, dimensions, spaces and realities.
